Below is the Readme from Rich when the Beetle was first posted up.
_RicH_ did the entire car I converted it to flatout2 thats it.
Please contact Rich on anything for this car in the future.
I got ahold of him from the zmod website for this release.

Thanks for downloading

This car is numbered 83 in the www.flatoutjoint.com Carpack_1
All skins on the car are new except the Herbie skin.

The Rims in the car pack were from Flatout1 I think they were
Par T chilli's although I maybe mistaken. If someone knows please
feel free to correct me so I can give the proper credit.

FlatOut VW Beetle
-----------------
by _RicH_

v1 - 3/6/2005
-----------------

Well here it is, my first new car for FlatOut.

Little bit of boring history: this car modified from
gta:vice baja bug i was working on but never finished,
the baja bug was based of my regualar beetle for vice city.

Alot had to be changed to get this working in FlatOut,
it took a while, but here it is!

New 3d mesh, with total polycount about 5080
(compared to 8707 of speedevil)
Features 5 skins all with damage
(flame, rusty, herbie, 2 racing skins)
New handling
etc etc

Some parts of 3d mesh taken from speedevi:
(seats, suspension, engine, door handles, other small stuff)

Rest made by me using ZModeler 1.07
Exported to FlatOut using Zmodeler v2
Skins created with photoshop and paint shop pro
Skins converted to .dxt with nvdxt
Everything else with notepad :)

INSTALLATION
-----------------

---BACK UP ALL FILES BEFORE EDITING!---

Its easier to replace a car then add a new one, so thats
what we will be doing. In my game this car replaces car1, speedevil,
if you want to replace a different car then rename all the files and
change the number (eg replace car_1 with car_12 to replace blocker).

First of all you need to extract your .bfs files, more info
on that can be found here:

http://racing.edgegaming.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2290

Now, in these files you have downloaded copy 'data' folder
over the top of the data folder in your flatour directory
(usualy C:\Program Files\Empire Interactive\FlatOut\data)
agree to overwrite/replace files

Thats it, car installed.

One minor thing you might want to do is edit the cardealer.bed file in
data\scripts. This file shows the colors that are listed on the right of
cardealer screen, as the car colors have changed these wont match.
So open the file in notepad, and scroll down to find { car=1, name="SPEEDEVIL"

replace the 5 lines under it with these 5 lines:

				{ GetPaletteColor(25),GetPaletteColor(45), },
				{ GetPaletteColor(33),GetPaletteColor(53), },
				{ GetPaletteColor(28),GetPaletteColor(48), },
				{ GetPaletteColor(0),GetPaletteColor(30), },
				{ GetPaletteColor(38),GetPaletteColor(58), },

Thats it, all set, start the game and away you go.

Known bugs (excuse the pun):

- When driver door is damaged, the drivers elbow sticks thru it, this is becuase
the car is alot smaller then the others, i moved the driver as far right as
i can without it looking dodgy but it still happens

- In the menus the car logo is still the one for speedevil, changing this would be more
trouble then its worth so i left it

- Sometimes when the bonnet/hood falls off it gets a little stuck to car

- Sometimes after a bump, the wheels stick thru the wings/fenders for a split second

P.S. for your pleasure i have included the photoshop templates for creating new skins for this car
knock yourself out, feel free to post any skins you want for download i would appreciate it.
But only post the skins, not the car with it.

If you wish to post the car on your website that is fine as long as the file is UNCHANGED.

Hope you enjoy the mod,
_RicH_
